history

The first written mention of the place took place on July 6, 1378 in a document from Ulrich von Boskowitz auf Černá Hora , who gave 50 pounds of Moravian groschen from Velenov to the Minorite Monastery of St. John in Brno annually for his salvation . In 1547 Velenov became part of the Boskovice estate . In 1791 a village school was established in Velenov. Until the middle of the 19th century, Velenov always remained submissive to Boskovice.

After the abolition of patrimonial Velenov formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Boskovice. The new school building was inaugurated in 1876. In 1906 the community received a public water supply, which took place via wooden pipes. The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1922; she built a syringe house between 1929 and 1933. In 1928 the municipality became a member of the Středomoravského lesního družstva ( Central Moravian Forest Cooperative ) , which was founded in the same year . At the beginning of 1961 Velenov was assigned to the Okres Blansko . In 1976 classes in Velenov ended and the children were retrained to Boskovice. In the same year it was incorporated into Valchov and in 1986 together with this to Boskovice. In 1993 the Velenov municipality was established again. In 1995 Velenov renewed his membership in the Středomoravského lesního družstva; In 2008 the community sold its two cooperative shares and left. In 2006 the municipality acquired half of the Suchý rybník bathing lake near Suchý .
