history

Úsobrno was built on the medieval Hvozdecká stezka trade route from Olomouc to Litomyšl . The first written mention of the place took place in 1073, when Vratislav II. The monastery Opatovice gave the court Úsobrno. It is believed that the place is much older and its name is of Celtic origin. At the same time Úsobrno referred to a district in the north-west of the Drahaner Bergland, the center of which was the Úsobrno castle. In 1078 Margrave Otto I gave the Gau Úsobrno to the Hradisch monastery . In a document from the Dowager Duchess Euphemia of Hungary from 1087, names of residents of the village can be found for the first time. The first reliable evidence of a toll station in Úsobrno comes from 1145. Further documents about the Gau Úsobrno and the toll come from the period between 1228 and 1258. In 1240 a Lembert de Uzoburne was named as a sovereign official. After Jevíčko was elevated to town in 1258, it took over the function of the district center instead of Úsobrno. In 1499, King Wladislaw Jagiello pledged the Knínice provost with the towns of Knínice and Svitávka and the villages of Úsobrno, Světlá , Cetkovice , Šebetov , Uhřice , Kořenec and Okrouhlá to his advisor Ladislav von Boskowitz . This established a manorial estate in Knínice and added other villages to it. Later the rule came back to the Hradisch Monastery. In the course of the 16th century, Šebetov was expanded to become a new mansion and the order had a large castle built there as a residence. There were several iron hammers in Úsobrno. After the abolition of the monastery in the course of the Josephine reforms, its goods fell to the religious fund in 1784. In 1825 Karl Graf Strachwitz bought the Šebetov estate. Two years later he had the Karlshütte ( Karlova huť ) glassworks built in Úsobrno . Originally, the smelter mainly produced sheet glass and hollow glass . In particular, these were bottles for medicines, wine and schnapps, petroleum lamp cylinders, mason jars, containers for ointments, inkwells, dropper bottles, cheese bells and figures of saints. His son Moritz Graf Strachwitz inherited the property in 1837.

After the abolition of patrimonial Úsobrno / Hausbrunn formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Moravská Třebová . In 1855 the municipality was assigned to the district administration Jevíčko , which was repealed in 1868. Between 1860 and 1865 the Karl Octavius estates belonged to Lippe-Weißenfeld . In 1865 the Counts of Strachwitz briefly became the owners of the Šebetov estates again. In the course of foreclosure in the same year, the Viennese factory owner Johann May bought the property, which he then sold to Moritz von Königswarter in 1877 . The Karlshütte product range was expanded around 1900. Various shapes of bottles and vials up to 50 liter jars were added. During the German occupation, Hausbrunn was assigned to the Political District of Boskowitz between 1941 and 1945 . After the end of the war, the community was initially again part of the Okres Moravská Třebová and in 1949 again assigned to the Okres Boskovice. At the beginning of 1961 Úsobrno was assigned to the Okres Blansko . Since 2001 Úsobrno has had a coat of arms and a banner. The largest company is Sklárny Moravia as , which manufactures glass bottles.
