history

The village was probably founded at the end of the 13th century. The first written mention of the village took place in 1447, when Johann von Pernstein Kčenov together with other villages his wife Bohunka von Lomnitz. In 1482 Wilhelm and Vratislav von Pernstein granted their subjects in Kčenov the privilege of freedom from reversion. After Wilhelm II of Pernstein had also acquired the goods of the Louka Castle in 1496, he struck Kčenov together with them to the Pernstein domain . In 1500 Kčenov was released from the obligation to dispense manorial wine and in 1515 from compulsory transport services for manorial fish. In 1520, Wilhelm II of Pernstein also acquired the city of art and joined Kčenov . At the end of the 16th century, the Pernsteiners' goods were sold out. Stephan Schmidt von Freienhofen and later the Lords of Lamberg belonged to the other owner. After the Thirty Years' War parts of the village lay desolate, Kčenov was not fully repopulated until 1680. In 1790 212 people lived in the 31 houses of the village. In 1834 the place had grown to 36 houses and had 232 inhabitants. In the course of history the village was also referred to as Křenov and Ščenov .

After the abolition of patrimonial Křenov formed from 1850 a municipality in the district authority Boskovice . The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1898. In 1900 the community consisted of 43 houses and had 299 inhabitants. In 1926 the municipality was forcibly renamed Křtěnov according to the decision of the renaming commission . The municipal council objected to this without success. After the communists came to power , show trials were initiated in Olešnice between 1952 and 1953 against peasants who opposed forced collectivization. In 1960 the population had dropped to 209. At the beginning of 1961 the community was assigned to the Okres Blansko . In 1980 Křtěnov consisted of 40 houses permanently used for residential purposes and had 180 inhabitants. Between 1989 and 1990 Křtěnov was a district of Olešnice. The Křtěnov municipality has existed again since 1990. On the evening of July 15, 2002, the Hodonínka and its tributary Crhovský potok swelled into torrential rivers after a strong thunderstorm.

The swan in the coat of arms symbolizes the knightly family of Rožnovský von Křtěnov, whose burial place is in Bohuňov , and the Ur the Pernsteiner.
