Kunštát Castle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kunštát Castle (German: Kunstadt ) in the town of the same name Kunštát in Okres Blansko belongs to the South Moravian region in the Czech Republic .

Kunstadt Castle

Kunstadt Castle developed from Kunstadt Castle, which is only documented for the year 1360. It was extensively expanded under the Bohemian King George of Podebrady , who had belonged to Kunstadt since 1448, and rebuilt in the Renaissance style in the mid-16th century . In its place, Johann Maximilian von Lamberg built a two-storey, rectangular baroque palace in 1680 , with parts of the old castle and the Renaissance building being retained. After several changes of ownership, the castle belonged to the von Coudenhove- Honrichs family from 1901. It was expropriated in 1945; the castle passed into state ownership. Today it is under the management of the National Monument Protection Office.
