The Koenigsbrück Castle is located in the Neuenkirchen district of Melle in the Osnabrück district , Lower Saxony, Germany. It is close to the Warmenau , which acts here as the border between Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. The origin of the castle goes back to the Saxon Wars .

“This is the legend of the origins of Königsbrück Castle south of Neuenkirchen, whose patron saint Wittekind, was carved in stone on the southern tower of the Königsbrück estate until 1836, where he looked to the bridge below. The storm of November 29th of that year threw the figure down into the moat. "

The forerunner of today's Königsbrück Castle is a four-wing complex built as a three-storey moated castle in the Weser Renaissance style , which was surrounded by a double moat system.

"Even before the year 1350, maybe before 1290, the von Nagel family sat here on the Warmenau as Meier (villici) of the Königsbrück-Lenzinghausen office."

The castle was first mentioned in 1488, expanded in 1627 and partially demolished in 1841. The complex was owned by the von Nagel , von Ledebur and (since 1862) the Counts of Platen Hallermund . Today the castle, like Gut Sondermühlen , is owned by Sabine Freifrau von Richthofen , née. Countess von Platen Hallermund, who saved it from decay with considerable effort.
