Benešov (German Beneschau ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located eight kilometers northeast of Boskovice and belongs to the Okres Blansko .
geography
Benešov is located on a plateau at the northwestern foot of the Skalky (735 m) in the Drahaner Bergland . Paprč (721 m) rises to the north.
Neighboring towns are Kořenec in the north, Žleb and Horní Štěpánov in the northeast, Buková in the east, Protivanov and Skelná Huť in the southeast, Suchý in the south, Velenov and Vratíkov in the southwest and Okrouhlá .
history
In 1078, the impenetrable forests of the Drahaner Bergland belonged to Otto I's estate for the Hradisko monastery . German glassmaking families settled in the mountains through the monastery. At the place of Pavlovský dvůr in Pavlov a glassworks was built, to which the glassmaking village Benýška was established. The Benýška settlement later became extinct.
Benešov was first mentioned in a document in 1362. A village settlement was established around a fortified courtyard as the seat of a Vladiken . In 1610 the place consisted of 20 houses and had a seal with a picture of a running deer. In 1755 the village of Pavlov was laid out on the Pavlovský dvůr.
In 1783, as part of the Josephine reforms, the monastery Hradisko was dissolved and Benešov was administered by the religious fund. During this time, the fortress was torn down and the church was built in its place.
