Joseph D. Lichtenberg
Joseph D. Lichtenberg (born August 29, 1925 in Baltimore , Maryland ) is an American psychiatrist , psychoanalyst and self-psychologist . Among other researchers, he integrated infant and toddler research into psychoanalysis and developed the theory of motivational systems, which is intended to replace Sigmund Freud's dualistic drive theory .
He is a freelance practitioner in Maryland and is a faculty member and lecturer at the Washington Psychoanalytic Institute and editor-in-chief of Psychoanalytic Inquiry .
