history

Place view

The first beginnings of settlement in the area around Blansko and Rájec took place in the first half of the 12th century by the Olomouc bishopric . From 1245 the new bishop Bruno von Schauenburg operated a systematic colonization of the episcopal possessions and brought about 25,000 German settlers from the then overpopulated Saxony to Moravia. After 1260 Blansek Castle was built as the seat of episcopal liege lords. The first written mention of the village belonging to the Petrovice estate was made in 1378 in the country table in the course of the sale of Petrovice including the associated hubs in Vavřinec and Podolí by Unka von Majetín to Eliška von Rohatec and Vítek von Rohrbach. The surrounding villages Neradice, Bezděčice and Podolí later became extinct again. In 1396, Bishop Nikolaus von Riesenburg pledged the Blansk goods to Erhart von Kunstadt and Skal . From 1416 the goods belonged to Wilhelm Zajíc von Waldeck . After this had fallen on November 1, 1420 in the battle of Vyšehrad in the fight against the Hussites , the knights of Studnice received Blansek. Under Bishop Johann von Bucca , Blansek formed one of the bishop’s bases in the fight against the Hussites. There is no source for Andreas Prokop's alleged income from the castle in 1424 and 1431 , apparently they are legends. In 1437, Bishop Paul von Miličin and Talmberg pledged the rule of the castle to Vok V. von Holštejn . Blansek Castle burned down after 1440 and has been considered desolate since 1461. The Nový Blansek Fortress , which was later expanded into a chateau, became the new seat of the rule . Later Vavřinec became part of the Rájec manor . In 1766 Anton Josef Altgraf von Salm-Reifferscheidt bought the Blansko estate from the heavily indebted Count von Gellhorn and united them with Rájec to form a dominion. The counts Salm-Reifferscheidt-Raitz made the rule with the ironworks Blansko and Arnoštov one of the centers of the Moravian iron and steel industry, some of the inhabitants earned their living in the Salm ironworks.

After the abolition of patrimonial Vavřinec formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Boskowitz . In 1948 Vavřinec was assigned to the Okres Blansko . At the beginning of 1961, Veselice (with Malá Veselice) and Suchdol (with Nové Dvory) were incorporated. The district Vavřinec has a cadastral area of 296.6 hectares. In the 1991 census, the district consisted of 132 houses and 391 inhabitants.
