Karolín (German Karolin ) is a district of Rájec-Jestřebí in the Czech Republic . It is located two kilometers east of Rájec-Jestřebí and belongs to the Okres Blansko .
geography
Karolín is at the western waste of Drahanská country to Bosko brázda between the valleys of the rivers and Chrábek Petrovický Potok. To the northeast rises the Spálená hora (529 m), in the east the Kněží hora (585 m) and southeast of the Podvrší (590 m). To the east lies the medieval Podolí desert, and to the southeast the Bezděčice desert.
Neighboring places are Holešín , Obora and Kuničky in the north, Žďár in the northeast, Petrovice and Vavřinec in the east, Veselice, Malá Veselice, Nové Dvory and Obůrka in the southeast, Češkovice, Blansko and Horní Lhota in the south, Ráječko and Spešov in the southwest, Rájecko in the southwest as well as Hamr and Doubravice nad Svitavou in the north-west.
history
The first written mention of the settlement belonging to the Raitz rule took place in 1760. The village had been laid out shortly before by Caroline von Roggendorf and Mollenburg in the corridors of a manorial court and is named after its founder. In 1763 Anton Josef Altgraf von Salm-Reifferscheidt acquired the rule, at that time Karolín consisted of 18 houses. Under the old count Salm-Reifferscheidt-Raitz there was an economic upswing of the Raitz and Blansko domains . Some of the residents earned their living in the stately ironworks.
After the abolition of patrimonial Karolín formed from 1850 a municipality in the district authority Boskovice . In 1890, 226 people lived in the 31 houses of the village. At the beginning of 1961, Karolín was assigned to the Okres Blansko . In 1980 it was incorporated into Rájec-Jestřebí . On the western edge of the village, a small reservoir was created in 1984, which is now used for swimming purposes. In 1991 the place had 103 inhabitants. In 2001 there were 49 houses and 89 inhabitants in Karolín.

- small chapel, built in the 19th century
- Cast iron cross, the cross made in 1818 is one of the oldest crosses made from cast iron. It is protected as a cultural monument.
