history

Origin, possessions and ennobling

The Knights of Roggendorf came from Styria. By acquiring extensive rulers in the western Waldviertel , the family acquired power and wealth, which put them in an almost princely position , although they themselves (only) belonged to the baron class .

Emperor Leopold I awarded the Dominium Rájec with Jedovnice in 1661 to Johanka Drnovský after the extinction of the noble family of Drnovský von Drnovice (German: Drnowitz ) in the male line. She was the last female descendant of Drnovský and widow of Georg Ehrenreich II. Von Roggendorf . Their son Johann Christian, who took over the property after the death of his mother in 1667 was awarded the title Earl of Roggendorf and Baron von Moll castle in the imperial counts charged.
