Jost III. von Rosenberg (also Jobst III. von Rosenberg ; Czech Jošt III. z Rožmberka ) (born June 30, 1488 , † October 15, 1539 ) was a nobleman from the Rosenbergs .

Life

His parents were Wok II von Rosenberg and Margarete von Guttenstein ( Markéta z Gutenštejna ). Johann was the second oldest among the brothers Johann , Peter and Heinrich . He grew up on the farm of Peter Holicky von Sternberg ( Peter Holický ze Šternberka ) and received his education there. 1532, after the death of his brother Johann III. von Rosenberg , he took over the reign of the House of Rosenberg. Immediately after taking office, he supported Emperor Charles V in the fight against the Turks . He maintained close political, economic and family relationships with the Bohemian King Ferdinand .

Jost died as a result of an accident. His successor was his son Wilhelm von Rosenberg , who was followed in 1592 by his brother Peter Wok von Rosenberg . With this, the Rosenbergs died out in 1611 in the male line.

Jost's first marriage was to Wendeline von Starhemberg († 1530). She died giving birth to her daughter:

  • Anna von Rosenberg (born January 28, 1530 - † December 16, 1580 in Neuhaus ), married Joachim von Neuhaus , who drowned in the Danube in 1565.

In their second marriage, Jost and Anna von Roggendorf ( Anna z Rogendorfu ) († 1562) married. She was a niece of the highest court master and chairman of the privy councilor Wilhelm von Roggendorf and was one of the ladies-in-waiting of Queen Anna before the marriage . The wedding took place during the Reichstag on July 17, 1530 in Augsburg . From this marriage came the children:

  • Ferdinand Wok von Rosenberg (born April 27, 1531 - † December 27, 1531), godfather was King Ferdinand.
  • Elisabeth von Rosenberg (* October 28 or 30, 1532; † February 5, 1576), married to Heinrich von Schwamberg. The marriage remained childless.
  • Ulrich IV. Von Rosenberg (born February 10, 1534 - † February 21, 1535), godparents were King Ferdinand and the Queen.
  • Wilhelm von Rosenberg (1535–1592), chief land treasurer and chief burgrave of Bohemia
  • Bohunka von Rosenberg (born March 17, 1536, † November 16, 1557 in Bischofteinitz ), married Johann the Younger von Lobkowitz in 1556 and presumably died giving birth to their son Wilhelm von Lobkowitz.
  • Eva von Rosenberg (born April 12, 1537; † August 1591 in Mantua), was married to Nikola Šubić Zrinski since 1564 , who died in 1566 during the siege of Szigetvár . In 1578 she married the Italian Count Paul von Gassold in her second marriage.
  • Peter Wok von Rosenberg (1539–1611) was a member of the Brethren Union and one of the most important representatives of the Protestant faith in Bohemia.
