Heinrich VII von Rosenberg (Czech Jindřich VII. Z Rožmberka ) (born January 15, 1496 , † August 18, 1526 in Zwettl ) was a Bohemian nobleman from the Rosenberg family .

Life

His parents were Wok II von Rosenberg and Margarete von Guttenstein ( Markéta z Gutenštejna ). Heinrich was the youngest among the brothers Johann , Jost and Peter . He attended the monastery schools in Wittingau and Schlägl and studied in Bologna from 1511 to 1512 under the guidance of the Preceptor Simon Villatika . He had to interrupt his studies because of persecution by papal soldiers. After returning to Bohemia, he joined the mercenaries of Emperor Maximilian .

Heinrich's father Wok II had handed over the reign of the Rosenberg House to his brother Peter IV von Rosenberg for health reasons . After the death of Wok II in 1505, he also took over the guardianship of his underage children. Since relations between him and the nephews were not good, he shared the dominium. He gave a smaller part to the nephews Heinrich, Jost and Peter and kept the larger part to himself. He bequeathed this to the eldest nephew Johann, who was also to take over the reign of the Rosenbergs. Since Johann belonged to the priesthood, Peter IV also decreed that his part should go to foreign nobles after Johann's death, among whom Zdeniek Lev von Rosental played the main role.

Although Johann took over the reign after the death of his uncle in 1523, an inheritance dispute broke out among the brothers. Jost and Peter appointed their youngest brother Heinrich as regent of the Rosenbergs. Subsequently, on November 18, 1523, all three lodged an objection to the will of their uncle Peter IV with the highest treasurer of the kingdom and requested that it not be entered on the land table . In 1524 they turned to King Ludwig directly and applied for the surrender of the possessions that Johann had inherited and their transfer to Heinrich, the legally elected successor. The request was granted in June 1524. However, Johann did not give up the rule voluntarily, so that his brothers sometimes had to use coercion.

In the second half of 1524 Heinrich took over the regency of the Rosenbergs. In 1525 Zdeniek Lev von Rosental became burgrave again and the fight for the estate was rekindled. As armed conflicts had to be expected, Heinrich then had Wittingau fortified. At the end of 1525, after legal disputes over the will, which the Rosenbergers did not comply with, representatives of the regional court appeared in February 1526 to collect the claims. Heinrich had them captured, broke the seal and tore up all documents. The deed had no consequences, as King Ludwig still needed the Rosenbergs to fight the Turks . Finally, the Rosenbergs came to an agreement with their co-heirs by paying them off.

In the spring of 1526 Heinrich took part in the Battle of Mohács (1526) with a small cavalry of around 600 soldiers . Since he fell ill on the way, he went to the Zwettl Abbey in Upper Austria to heal , where he died.

Familys

Heinrich married Magdalena von Sternberg on November 4, 1520 ( Magdalena ze Šternberka ; † June 28, 1521). After their death, he married Anna von Neuhaus ( Anna z Hradce ; † October 1570), who was previously married to Boček von Kunstadt and Ladislaus von Sternberg ( Ladislav ze Šternberka ). Both marriages remained childless.
