Peter Rundel

Peter Rundel (* 1958 in Friedrichshafen ) is a German violinist and conductor .

Peter Rundel studied violin with Igor Ozim and Ramy Shevelov , composition with Jack Brimberg , and conducting with Michael Gielen and Péter Eötvös . From 1984 to 1996 Rundel was a violinist with the Ensemble Modern . As a violinist, he has performed pieces by Luigi Nono , Morton Feldman and John Cage .

Peter Rundel has been an international conductor since 1987. The focus of his work is contemporary music . He has been working together for many years with the Ensemble Modern, the ensemble recherche and the Klangforum Wien . In addition to his work as a guest conductor, Rundel directed the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Flanders , the Ensemble Oriol , the Potsdam Chamber Academy and the Vienna Pocket Opera . Rundel has conducted music theater productions at the Deutsche Oper Berlin , the Bavarian State Opera , the Wiener Festwochen , the Bregenz Festival , the Vienna Volksoper , and at the RuhrTriennale . He worked with the directors Peter Konwitschny , Philippe Arlaud , Joachim Schlömer and Willy Decker .

Together with Kathinka Pasveer, he was the musical director of the scenic world premiere of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Sunday from Light from the opera cycle Licht in the Cologne State House .

Rundel is married and has two children.
