Kathinka Pasveer (born June 11, 1959 in Zaandam ) is a Dutch solo flutist . As an interpreter of Karlheinz Stockhausen's works, she participated in many world premieres.

Life

Kathinka Pasveer was born as the daughter of the organist, choir conductor and organ composer Jan Pasveer and his wife Klasina. She studied with Frans Vester at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague . Already in her last year of study she was solo flutist in the Gewestelijk Symphonie Orkest and since December 1982 she has also worked on Karlheinz Stockhausen's projects. In July 1983 she completed her concert exam with distinction. In the same year she gave the world premiere of Stockhausen's composition Kathinkas Gesang as Lucifer's Requiem for flute and six percussionists , the second scene from Saturday made of light, at the Donaueschinger Musiktage .

In the following years she appeared as a soloist in the world premieres of Stockhausen's opera cycle Licht , such as in 1984 at the world premiere of Saturday from Light at La Scala in Milan . Since 1983 she has also worked with Karlheinz Stockhausen in the studio for electronic music at WDR Cologne and IRCAM . She also assisted Stockhausen with his mixes and sound design. Stockhausen dedicated numerous works to her, in which she premiered. Together with basset horn player Suzanne Stephens , she heads the Stockhausen Foundation for Music on the Kettenberg.

As a solo flutist, in addition to the works of Stockhausen, she also recorded Mozart's Flute Concerto in G major with the cadenzas by Karlheinz Stockhausen.

As part of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival , she gave the world premiere of Stockhausen's posthumous work Paradise for Flute and Electronic Music, the 21st hour of sound, on August 24, 2009 .

In April 2011, together with the conductor Peter Rundel, she was the musical director of the staged world premiere of Stockhausen's Sunday from Light from the opera cycle Licht in the Cologne State House .
