The ÖBB 2067 is a diesel locomotive series of the ÖBB .

history

After the two-axle diesel locomotives of the 2060 and 2062 series proved to be too weak for many tasks, the company SGP developed the 600 hp, three-axle series 2067. The engine is based on the four-stroke twelve-cylinder type SGP S12a. The power is transmitted via a hydraulic Voith gearbox (type L28St) to a jackshaft that was connected to the three axles by a rod drive. From 1959 to 1977 a total of 111 locomotives were taken over by the ÖBB . The locomotives up to serial number 31 had a smaller silencer (with a correspondingly louder engine noise) and a different stem. In addition to numerous smaller improvements during the construction period, the locomotives were equipped with multiple controls from 2067.102 onwards. In 1997 the ÖBB equipped the 2067.093 with a radio remote control for test purposes. The locomotive was renamed 2167.093 due to this special equipment .

construction

The locomotive frame consists of strong longitudinal sheets - these are welded together with cross members to form a box girder. The drive system sits on this frame and is located in the longer front end along with other important units. This is followed by the cab and a shorter front end. The driver's cab and the two stems were made of welded sheet metal. The wheel sets stored at the locomotives to 2067.81 in plain bearings in the recesses of the frame, from 2067.82 to roller bearing has been used. Power is transmitted to all three axes via the coupling rods.

The prototype and the first construction lot were delivered in a fir green color scheme. The bars were red and the wheels gray. The roof was painted silver. Locomotives delivered later, including the roof and frame, were painted blood orange, the chassis remained dark gray. All locomotives of the 2067 series still in use are painted in the standard ÖBB color scheme. The locomotives have a wide white decorative stripe on the front, the frame and running gear are in umbra gray and the rest is painted traffic red.

The engine design (type SGP 12a) was adopted from the 2045 and 5145 series . However, the machine is not completely identical to the series mentioned, as minor improvements have been made - the correct designation for the engine system is SGP 12na. The power is transmitted from the engine via a shaft to a hydraulic turbo gearbox that drives a jackshaft. All locomotives of the 2067 series have an automatic and a non-automatic air brake and a simple Sifa . There is no PZB in the original locomotive; due to changed regulations, the 2067.107 was retrofitted with an I60 on a trial basis in the TS plant in Linz in 2008/2009 . So far it is the only 2067 with PZB and registration.

commitment

The mechanically robust series has proven itself to this day in light to medium-heavy shunting, but has been replaced in recent years by the four-axle series 2068 , ÖBB 2048 (temporarily) and 2070 . From 2000 it was also used in light route service. The 2067 is used at train stations for shunting services, etc. a. in Vienna West, Vienna South, Villach Westbahnhof, Wiener Neustadt , Wels , Innsbruck or Salzburg . Occasionally, the locomotives are used for light district freight trains. Some locomotives of the 2067 series are stationed near long tunnels with tunnel rescue trains.
