Závist (German Sawist , formerly Zawiest ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located six kilometers west of Blansko and belongs to the Okres Blansko .
geography
Závist is located on a right tributary of the Lažánka in the Boskowitz furrow . The village is surrounded by large forest areas. The R 43 / E 461 expressway runs through the village . The Jedle (561 m) rises to the northeast, the Bukovec (596 m) to the southeast and the Brlůžky (438 m) to the southwest.
Neighboring towns are Lhotky and Cerna Hora in the north, Jestřebí , Spešov and Dolni Lhota in the Northeast, Blansko in the east, Hořice, Olešná and St. Katherine in the southeast, Milonice in the south, Skalička and Újezd in the southwest, Klučeniny and Hluboké Dvory in the west and Malá Lhota in the north-west.
history
The village of Závist was officially founded in 1776. The oldest local seal also comes from this year. Previously, an inn, a blacksmith's shop and a number of houses had been laid out along the Kaiserstraße between the Bouč, Spálená and Pastviska hills; the small settlement was called Brlohy. The existence of a single-layer Závist has also been documented since 1724 . Where this name is derived from is not certain. The village was always parish after Újezd .
After the lifting of patrimonial formed Závist t. Brlohy from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Boskovice . In 1854 the municipality was assigned to the judicial district of Blansko . Since the end of the 19th century, the place name Závist prevailed. In 1948 the municipality was assigned to the Okres Blansko . At the beginning of 1961, Závist was combined with Milonice to form a municipality Milonice-Závist . This dissolved again on January 1, 1992.

Attractions
- Bell tower of St. Trinity, built in 1833 by Mariana Šumanová. The bell was bought at auction as early as 1790 when the St. Clementí Lipůvka church was demolished and was previously hung on a wooden fork in front of house number 13.
- Sandstone cross on the bell tower, created in 1857
- round fountain on the village square, created in 1925, renovated in 2000
- Statue Salvator, above the village, the figure around which some legends entwined, was stolen
- Memorial to the victims of the First World War, erected in 1938
- Natural monument Krkatá baba, west of the village on the Lubě, oak forest around a group of rock pillars made of reddish breccia, it got its bizarre name from one of the rocks that resembles a human head with a long neck.
