  • The Dálnice 43 ( Czech for "Autobahn 43") is a planned motorway in the Czech Republic and will in future establish the connection between Brno (junction with the D1 ) and Moravská Třebová (junction with the D35 ). Essentially, it should run on the route of the Reichsautobahn Breslau-Vienna, which was partially implemented between 1938 and 1945 . At Brno it is supposed to connect to the cross with the D1, the D52 to Vienna.

    history

The history of this expressway began before the Second World War, when the National Socialist government of the German Reich forced Czechoslovakia on November 19, 1938 to agree to an intergovernmental agreement on the construction of a so-called through-highway between Wroclaw, Brno and Vienna. Construction began on April 11, 1939, but had to be stopped on April 30, 1942 as a result of the war. 83.5 km of the 320 km long motorway between the cities of Trnávka and Hrušovany was under construction. Some bridge structures and culverts were completed, others remained unfinished. Even today it can be clearly seen on aerial photographs where the route should run, as earthworks had already been carried out in many sections, which later became wooded.

In 1963 the idea of a D43 motorway arose again, which was to link the parallel D1 and D35. However, the route Brno - Svitavy should run along the existing Silnice 43 road. In 1987 it was decided to change the plans for the R43 and D35 expressways and to run the route on the northern part of the original route.

In this way, the R43 will connect Brno and Moravská Třebová as well as the regions of South Moravia and North Bohemia (via R35).

The realization of the 78 km long route depends on the (private) financing of the expressway. Planning was held up several times by approval problems. Originally, the construction of the Troubsko - Kuřim section, which could contribute significantly to relieving the city of Brno, was supposed to start in 2014. Neither here nor for the sections Kuřim - Černá Hora, Svitávka - Moravská Třebová and Černá Hora - Svitávka is expected to start implementation soon (status 2015).
