The road, which runs essentially parallel to the March (Morava), begins in the town of Olomouc , leaves it in a south-easterly direction, crosses the Dálnice 35 motorway ( European route 442 ) at junction (exit) 276, continues to Přerov (Prerau) , where the Silnice I / 47 branches off (which is to be replaced by the new Dálnice 1 motorway to be built here ), from there continues south to Horní Moštěnice (Upper Moschtienitz), from here on it will be replaced by the Dálnice 1, which has already been developed , from the junction at Hulín (Hullein) to Otrokovice (Otrokowitz) through the Dálnice 55 motorway (until the end of 2015 Rychlostní silnice R55). This is where the Silnice I / 49 meets you. The Silnice I / 55 continues in a generally southerly direction, bypasses Uherské Hradiště (Hungarian Hradiště ) in the west, runs south of this town for a distance of around 5 kilometers together with the Silnice I / 50 , continues south via Uherský Ostroh (Hungarian Ostra), where the Silnice I / 71 branches off, crosses Veselí nad Moravou (Wessely), where it crosses the Silnice I / 54 , and continues via Strážnice (Straßnitz) and Sudoměřice (Sudomierschitz), where the Silnice I / 70 comes close The border to Slovakia branches off, crosses the March and runs west past Hodonín (Göding).
