The Silnice I / 16 ( Czech for: "1st class road 16") is a Czech state road (1st class road).
course
The road branches off from Silnice I / 6 in Řevničov , leads in an easterly direction over the intersection with Silnice I / 7 through Slaný , bypasses Velvary (Welwarn) in the south, then crosses Dálnice 8 motorway , crosses the Elbe in Mělník and crosses the Silnice I / 9 here and joins the Dálnice 10 motorway ( European route 65 ) south of Mladá Boleslav at junction (exit) 39 , which it leaves again at junction 44 in an easterly direction . From here it continues via Sobotka to Jičín (Gitschin), which is bypassed on a route jointly with Silnice I / 35 ( European route 442 ). It separates from the Silnice I / 35 about 6 kilometers east of Jičín near Úlibice (Aulibitz) and now runs in a north-easterly direction via Nová Paka (Neupaka) and Pilníkov (Pilnikau) to Trutnov (Trautenau), where it joins the Silnice I. / 14 , with which it runs for around two kilometers, and where the Silnice I / 37 branches off in a southerly direction. From Trutnov the road continues in a north-north-east direction to Královec (Königshan) on the border with Poland and forms part of Droga krajowa 5 to Bolków (Bolkenhain) on the Polish side .
The length of the road is almost 191 kilometers.
history
From 1940 to 1945, the western section of the road to Slaný was part of the national route 361 and from Mladá Boleslav to Úlibice part of the national route 177 .
