The road (at the same time European route E49 ) branches at junction (exit) 131 from the highway Dálnice 6 ( European route E48 ) at Jenišov (Janessen) west of Karlsbad (Karlovy Vary) to the south and leads through Bečov nad Teplou (Petschau) and further in a south-westerly direction west past Toužim (Theusing) via Úněšov (Anischau) to Pilsen (Plzeň). Here it crosses the Silnice I / 27 , which also forms the European route 53 to the south , and the Silnice I / 26 . The Dálnice 5 motorway is crossed at exit 75, and Silnice I / 19 branches off to the southeast before Chválenice . The Silnice I / 20 continues to Nepomuk , where the Silnice II / 230 (until 1997 Silnice I / 21 ) meets it, turns there to the east-southeast, runs south past Blatná , crosses a short section of the Dálnice motorway, which has already been completed here 4 and continues as a four-lane and intersection-free road to Písek , where the Silnice I / 29 branches off in a northerly direction. About the Avoided in the northeast Vodňany (Wodnjan) where the ending here Silnice I / 22 opens, the road continues to Budweis (České Budějovice). Here it ends at the junction with Silnice I / 3 ( Europastraße 55 ).
