Dominik Weber (born July 27, 1819 in St. Peter , Black Forest ; † September 7, 1887 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German painter.

Life

Dominik Weber was the son of the stone sculptor Matthias Weber (1790–1866) and the grandson of the builder Johann Baptist Weber (1756–1826). He initially worked as a clock shield painter and then a student of the Freiburg painter Dionys Ganter . In 1842 he went to Munich, where he studied at the art academy and got to know the art of the Nazarenes . In 1847 he returned to Freiburg, in 1850/51 he lived in Niederemmendingen , then again in Freiburg.

Weber painted portraits as well as landscape and genre pictures, but mostly sacred subjects.
