Location of the town of Vöhrenbach in the Schwarzwald-Baar district | ||
Vöhrenbach is a small town in the Schwarzwald-Baar district in Baden-Württemberg .
geography
The town of Vöhrenbach is located in the Breg valley in the central Black Forest between Furtwangen and the district town of Villingen-Schwenningen . The proportion of forest in the total area is 77%.
Neighboring communities
The city borders in a clockwise direction beginning in the north with the city of St. Georgen in the Black Forest , in the east with Villingen-Schwenningen, Unterkirnach and Donaueschingen , in the south with Bräunlingen and Eisenbach (Black Forest) , in the extreme southwest with Titisee-Neustadt and in the west with the City of Furtwangen . With the exception of Eisenbach and Titisee-Neustadt ( Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district ), the neighboring communities belong to the Schwarzwald-Baar district.
City structure
Vöhrenbach consists of the town of Vöhrenbach (within the boundaries of 1970) and the three districts Hammereisenbach-Bregenbach, Langenbach and Urach as well as 89 other villages, hamlets, Zinken, farms and houses.

The city districts are officially named by the prefixed name of the city and separated by a comma , the word "district" and the name of the respective district. The districts are spatially identical to the formerly independent municipalities of the same name. The core city and the three districts form residential districts in the sense of the Baden-Württemberg municipal code and in the three districts there are localities under local law with their own local council and mayor as its chairman.
The Neu-Fürstenberg castle ruins and the Krumpenschloss are located in the Hammereisenbach-Bregenbach district .
history
In 1244, Vöhrenbach received city rights from the Counts of Urach as a competitor to Villingen. However, the city never came close to reaching the importance of Villingen. In 1806 the city became part of the newly founded Grand Duchy of Baden .
In the course of the municipality reform in Baden-Württemberg, Hammereisenbach-Bregenbach was incorporated on July 1, 1971, and Langenbach and Urach on December 1, 1971.
politics

The municipality council in Vöhrenbach consists of 14 elected honorary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the municipal council. mayor
According to the legend of the “Seven Virgins”, it should not be possible in Vöhrenbach to confirm a mayor in his office. Messrs. Sorg, Neininger and Wolf were voted out of office after their first term of office. It was only Karl-Heinz Schneider who succeeded in being re-elected in 1981. When Karl-Heinz Schneider applied for a fourth term in 1997, his challenger Robert Strumberger won. Robert Strumberger has also been re-elected twice.
