Niedereschach is a municipality in the Schwarzwald-Baar district in Baden-Württemberg .

Geographical location

Niedereschach is located in the Eschach Valley on the eastern edge of the Black Forest between 620 and 720 meters altitude between the district town of Villingen-Schwenningen and the town of Rottweil .

Neighboring communities

The community borders in the north on Zimmer ob Rottweil and in the east on Deißlingen , both in the district of Rottweil , in the south on Dauchingen and Villingen-Schwenningen and in the west on Königsfeld in the Black Forest . Kappel, Schabenhausen, Fischbach and Dauchingen are in the immediate vicinity.

history

The Niederschacher district as part of the province of Upper Germany was already settled in Roman times, as archaeological finds show. Niedereschach was first mentioned in a document in 1086 . In the course of history Niedereschach was the property of the monasteries Gengenbach , St. Georgen and the imperial city of Rottweil . In 1805 the village became part of Württemberg and came to Baden in 1810 .

In addition, Granegg Castle is said to have stood on the mountain between Fischbach and Schabenhausen , which still existed in the Middle Ages. A street was named after this castle, Graneggstraße.

The Niedereschach community in the borders before the community reform in the 1970s includes the village of Niedereschach, the courtyards Klosterhof (formerly Seyhof) and Mühle and the houses Am Eichenberg, An der Schabenhäuserhalde, Bubenholz, Ebersteinerhof, Oberer Vogelsang, Pulvermühle, Schloss Graneck (castle builders ) and Vogelsang.

Attractions

The place is located on the German Clock Road , the Roman Road Neckar-Alb-Aare and the Black Forest-Querweg Rottweil-Lahr , all of which lead past many sights.

From Fischbach-Sinkingen, a suburb of Niedereschach, a scenic high path leads to one of the most unusual Roman facilities in the southwest. At the highest point of an elongated ridge between two river valleys lies the villa rustica , a mighty risalit building with meter-thick walls, flanked by two symmetrically arranged and externally equally large, extensive economic areas.

Some distance to the south, cut into a steep slope below the villa, you will find a well-preserved thermal bath of extraordinary dimensions, which testifies to the luxury and wealth of one of the former owners, Lucius Marius Victor. The bathroom has two separate heating systems, tubs, a sophisticated latrine and a large south-facing terrace. Other not yet excavated residential buildings with elaborate hillside walls only give an idea of the former dimensions of the entire complex. The way and the individual sights are well signposted.

In the Kappel district there is a small park with a petting zoo .

Show mines

In the districts of Niedereschach, two mines from the Middle Ages can be visited, in Kappel the Karl gallery in Milan , in Schabenhausen the Otto gallery on the Kohlerberg .

Economy and Infrastructure

Compared to other surrounding communities, the Niedereschach community has excellent economic and infrastructural characteristics. This can be recognized on the one hand by the large industrial area in the east of Niedereschach, on the other hand by the good transport links to Stuttgart / Singen and Offenburg. The community has two banks, two general practitioners, two dentists, two physiotherapy practices, two supermarkets, a bakery, several bakery shops, two parishes, four kindergartens, and an infant care group.
