Granegg Castle (Niedereschach)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Graneck Castle is the name of an abandoned castle that was located in what is now the Niedereschach community . Graneck is said to have stood on the mountain between the formerly independent communities Fischbach and Schabenhausen.

A Bruno von Graneck is mentioned for the first time in 1281. After it was acquired by the Ifflinger in 1465, this up-and-coming aristocratic family named itself after this castle. In 1778 the community acquired the castle and the associated goods. As a result, it was demolished except for part of the economic building.
