Hermanas Mirabal ( called Salcedo until 2007 ) is a province in the north of the Dominican Republic . The province was split off from the Espaillat province in 1952 . The name of the province is supposed to remind of the Mirabal sisters (Dominican regime opponents of the Trujillo dictatorship).

Administrative division

The province is made up of three municipalities :

  • Salcedo
  • Tenares
  • Villa Tapia
