history

Middle Ages and early modern times

In the document from Pope Gregor X. from 1275 on the possession of the Rottweil hospital, his “courtyards in rooms” were also mentioned. For centuries, Zimmer belonged to the Rottweil hospital. Therefore the village remained mostly Catholic. Zimmer was burned down in 1707 during the War of the Spanish Succession .

Development since the 19th century

On September 8, 1802, two delegates from the Württemberg government came to the council of the imperial city of Rottweil and demanded that it be surrendered. They underscored the seriousness of their intentions with a thousand soldiers and took the city, the associated villages and the monasteries into the possession of the then Duchy of Württemberg. So the village of Zimmer became part of Württemberg and thus an independent municipality. According to the administrative structure in the Kingdom of Württemberg founded in 1806, it was assigned to the Oberamt Rottweil . In 1910, Zimmer was connected to the water supply, electrical energy was available from 1915. In 1938, during the district reform during the Nazi era in Württemberg , Zimmer became part of the Rottweil district . After the Second World War, Zimmer fell into the French zone of occupation and thus came to the newly founded state of Württemberg-Hohenzollern , which was incorporated into the state of Baden-Württemberg in 1952.

Religions

The main town ofzimmer and the districts of Horgen and Stetten are predominantly Roman Catholic . The parishes of St. Konrad in Zimmer o. R., St. Leodegar in Stetten-Flözlingen and St. Martin in Horgen form a pastoral care unit in the Rottweil deanery .

The suburb of Flözlingen, as a former Württemberg exclave, is Protestant and the seat of the parish Flözlingen -zimmer in the church district of Tuttlingen. The Protestant church was built in 1717.
