The Neue Rottweiler Zeitung (NRWZ) is an independent local newspaper from Rottweil . It has been published since November 27, 2004 and consists of the online edition (www.nrwz.de) and the “NRWZ zum weekend”, a free newspaper distributed to all households. The printed edition is 36,500 copies (2016) and reaches almost every household in Rottweil, Schramberg and the surrounding area.

The NRWZ came into being after readers and freelancers of the Schwäbische Zeitung protested in the spring of 2004 against the closure of the local editions of Rottweil and Schramberg . An association was then founded with the aim of establishing a second daily newspaper in Rottweil alongside the Schwarzwälder Bote . This association carries the online edition of the NRWZ.

In autumn 2004 the NRWZ-Verlag was founded in which the association is also involved. Since the end of November 2004, the NRWZ has been published for the weekend. Peter Arnegger is the publisher's managing director. The distribution area includes the towns of Rottweil and Schramberg as well as the surrounding communities.
