Schönwald im Schwarzwald is a municipality in Baden-Württemberg and belongs to the Schwarzwald-Baar district .

geography

Geographical location

The state-approved climatic health resort of Schönwald is located in a high valley in the central Black Forest between Triberg and Furtwangen . With an altitude of around 1000 m above sea level, Schönwald is one of the highest enclosed locations in Germany. The surrounding high valley is divided into six partly extensive hollows, which are characterized by meadows, pastures and individual farms typical of the Black Forest design . The streams gather in the Gutach , which forms the Triberg waterfalls around 3 kilometers northeast of the village . The Bregquelle , which is the main source of the Danube, is similarly close to the west .

Neighboring communities

The community borders in the north on Schonach , in the east on the city of Triberg , in the south on the city of Furtwangen and in the west on Simonswald in the district of Emmendingen .

The municipality belongs to the municipal administration association Raumschaft Triberg. This consists of the city of Triberg and the communities of Schonach and Schönwald.

Schönwald is located on the German Clock Route , which leads past many sights.

Buildings

The Gutenkapelle was built by master tailor Engelbert Hummel to thank his family for being spared in World War II. The Triberg Galgen is located in the immediate vicinity of the city, on the K5728 Schönwald – Villingen district road .

Economy and Infrastructure

The place is a tourist resort with around 4,000 beds. According to the German Clock Road Working Group , the place is considered the birthplace of the cuckoo clock .

traffic

Schönwald is connected to the national road network by the federal highway 500 ( Freudenstadt - Waldshut ). The public transport is the transport association Schwarzwald-Baar guaranteed.
