Eisenbach (Hochschwarzwald) is a climatic health resort in the east of the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district in Baden-Württemberg .

The district of the municipality is at an altitude between 800 and 1130 m above sea level. NN. in the Bregtal , one of the headwaters of the Danube .
Community structure
The community Eisenbach (Upper Black Forest) consists of the formerly independent communities Bubenbach, Eisenbach, Oberbränd and Schollach .
- The village of Bubenbach and the residential areas Kreuzdobel (Josengäßle), Rappenloch, Schwarzkreuzwirtshaus and Steingremmen belong to the former municipality of Bubenbach.
- The former communities Eisenbach and Oberbränd only consist of the villages of the same name.
- The hamlet of Mittelschollach, the Zinken Felsental-Blessinghof, Hinterschollach, Süßenbach and Unterschollach belong to the former municipality of Schollach . The former municipality of Schollach is a place within the meaning of the Baden-Württemberg municipal code with its own local council and mayor as its chairman.

history
Eisenbach owes its name to the brown iron stone and pyrolusite , which was mined here from 1478 with interruptions until 1942. Pyrolusite was once important for the production of colorless Black Forest glass , which was previously known as greenish forest glass . In the 18th century the craft of watchmaking emerged , which developed into an important industry in the towns in the 19th century. Today it has developed into an industry for precision mechanics, precision turned parts, gears and fittings.
Incorporations
On November 1, 1972, the former communities Eisenbach, Bubenbach and Oberbränd merged to form the new community Eisenbach. The community of Schollach was incorporated on January 1, 1975 and the community was renamed Eisenbach (Upper Black Forest).
politics
The twelve municipal councils were re-elected by majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019, with a turnout of 63.8% (2014: 56.3%) . Among them is a woman. In addition, the mayor is a member of the municipal council as chairman with voting rights. Karlheinz Rontke has been mayor since 2020.
Economy and Infrastructure
Watchmaking was traditionally well represented in Eisenbach . The community is located on the German Clock Route . In April 2019, the 22nd International Antique Watch Exchange took place in Eisenbach.
Today (2019) there is a cluster in Eisenbach of nine large industrial companies and numerous smaller companies that produce (sometimes multi-shift) gears, precision turned parts, gears and fittings. In 2012 there were over 1,500 employees, 1,100 of whom were commuters.
The level of employment in the manufacturing industry is unusually high for the Black Forest, which is heavily influenced by tourism.
The tourism in a health resort recognized community is regarded as economically insignificant.
