history

Until the 19th century

Friedenweiler was first mentioned in 1123 as Fridenwilare. In the 14th century, the Friedenweiler monastery was founded in the town , which then ruled the town. The monastery founded by Benedictine nuns was handed over to Cistercian women in 1570. By contract of November 16, 1802, the monastic property was transferred to the Prince of Fürstenberg . Secular power passed to the Grand Duchy of Baden as a result of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss .

Association of the communities of Friedenweiler and Rötenbach

On January 1, 1975, the formerly independent communities Rötenbach and Friedenweiler were merged to form the community of Friedenweiler as part of the community reform.

Sports

The SV Friedenweiler-Rudenberg, whose most successful starter is the biathlete Annika Knoll (* 1993), goes back to the Ski Club Friedenweiler founded in 1924. After only cross-country skiing was practiced there at the beginning, biathlon (late 1970s) and ski jumping were added to the club's training portfolio. After ski jumping was discontinued in the 1980s, the ski jumping hill and the biathlon facility were later dismantled. Competitions had previously been held there, such as the German Biathlon Championships in 1996 and part of the Biathlon European Cup in 1998/99 .

At the German Biathlon Championships in 1986 , Peter Angerer made five missed shots while in the lead and dropped back to 3rd place.
