František Chochola
František Chochola (* 1943 in Kolín ) is a Czech - German sculptor , illustrator and medalist . Chochola is best known for his illustrations of children's books and the euro coins he designed .
Life
Chochola is the son of an entrepreneur. After completing his studies in garden sculpture at the Art and Crafts School in Bechyně in 1963, he worked as a restorer in Kolín . From 1968 he designed medals and illustrated books as a freelance artist in Kolín and Prague . After the end of the Prague Spring , Chochola emigrated to Hamburg in the early 1970s . In 1992 František Chochola, who only learned the German language after emigrating, became a German citizen. His sculptures, book illustrations and designs are created in his studio in Hamburg-Alsterdorf .
