The Hodonínka is a left tributary of the Svratka in the Czech Republic .

The Hodonínka rises just under a kilometer north of Nyklovice at 652  m above sea level. NN . at the eastern foot of the Bořina ( 740  m ) on the former border between Bohemia and Moravia . On its upper reaches leading to the southeast, it is called Nyklovický potok and formed the Bohemian-Moravian border up to the Lamberk farm. In Olešnice the Veselský potok flows to the left. From its confluence, the water carries the name Hodonínka and changes its direction to the south.

The further course leads via Křtěnov and Loucký Dvůr to Hodonín . Here the Hodonínka forms a deeply cut valley and turns to the west. The Hodonínka finally flows over Beranka to Olešnička , where it flows into the Svratka after 24 km. Its catchment area is 67 km². It has an average gradient of 13.2%.

Flood

On the evening of July 15, 2002, the Hodonínka and the Crhovský potok swelled into a torrent after a strong thunderstorm. The river, which is normally 2 m wide and 10 cm deep, rose to 2.5 m within two hours and reached a width of 40 to 50 m. In Olešnička the tide reached the Svratka with 110 m³ / s. Two people drowned, 50 houses were completely flooded and roads and bridges were destroyed. As a result of the flood, a system of five flood retention basins was created at Veselský potok.

PP Nyklovický potok

East of Rovečné , the creek forms numerous meanders with trees and snowdrops on the banks over a length of one and a half kilometers . This section has been cut as a natural monument PP Nyklovický potok on an area of ​​11.74 hectares since 1990 .
