Velké Tresné (German Groß Tresna , also Groß Treszny ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located three kilometers northwest of Olešnice and belongs to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou .

geography

Velké Tresné is located in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands . The Moravian village is located south of the historical border between Moravia and Bohemia in the basin of the Důlní potok brook. To the northeast lies the valley of the Nyklovický potok , part of which is designated as a natural monument. In the northeast rises the Fouska (669 m), east the Na Skalce (652 m), in the southeast the Kopaniny (688 m) and southwest the Dolní Kopec (611 m).

Neighboring towns are Trpín and Kněževes in the northeast, Veselka and Lamberk in the east, Olešnice in the southeast, Lhota u Olešnice in the south, Bolešín and Malé Tresné in the southwest, Rovečné in the west and Nyklovice in the northwest.

history

The village was created during the colonization of the border forests between Moravia and Bohemia. The place belonging to the Pernstein dominion was first documented in 1351. In 1590 Velké Tresné was attached to the Kunstadt dominion , to which it belonged until 1848, together with eleven other villages in the area .

After the abolition of patrimonial Velké Trestny formed a municipality in the Boskovice district from 1850 . The place name Velké Tresné has been used since the end of the 19th century . In 1854 a graphite deposit of 14 m thickness was found in the limestone, the mining of which was started by Dominik Starý with simple means. Later Vladimír Weypustek bought the mine from Starý's daughter. In 1938 Hubert Weypustek sold the graphite mine to Karel Engliš jr., The son of the economist Karel Engliš . He rehabilitated the dilapidated mine and had a connecting road built. He also founded a sawmill.

In 1949 the community was assigned to the Okres Bystřice nad Pernštejnem. The sawmill in Velké Tresné was shut down in the 1950s. At the beginning of 1961 it was incorporated into Rovečné , and at the same time the village came to Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . In 1968 the graphite mine was shut down. A steel construction company, which later became part of the Sigma state-owned company, was established on the site of the mine. After the reprivatisation in 1995, the company operates under the name Uniman Engliš as. The municipality has existed again since 1992.

After the Second World War, the village gained importance as a resort; Guests were u. a. Svatopluk Beneš and Jiří Štuchal . Velké Tresné is located in the area of ​​the Svratecká Hornatina Nature Park, established in 1995.
