After the abolition of patrimonial Věžná formed with the district Pernštýnské Janovice from 1850 a municipality in the Neustadtl district . In 1949 the community was assigned to the Okres Bystřice nad Pernštejnem. In 1961 Jabloňov was incorporated, at the same time the municipality Věžná came to Okres Žďár nad Sázavou. In 2002 a pond was created again in the "Na rybníkách" corridor north of the village on an old pond site.
Věžná is now a winter sports area. To the south of the village, the Věžná ski club operates a 283 m long tow lift.
