history

View of Březí

Two villages, Horní Březí and Dolní Březí, were built around a pond belonging to the Osav domain , probably in the 13th century. Horní Březí was first mentioned in a document in 1348, when Hroznata von Březí bought four hubs of land from Jan von Vidonín. In 1364 both villages belonged to Henricus de Ossaw and his son-in-law Jonáš von Bechin. Eberhard von Březí was named in 1366 as the owner of the large Freihof and estate. Later belonged the Freihof Zbyněk from Doubravice , who sold it in 1436 to Ondřej von Březí. After further changes of ownership, the Freihof belonged to Václav Urban von Březí at the end of the 15th century, who also owned the farm in Jestřabí. After that, the Freihof was split up into numerous parts. At the end of the 16th century the village consisted of 15 lots. In the course of the Josephine reforms , a church and a rectory were built in 1788. Until then, Březí was parish to the church in Osová Bítýška . The furnishings of the church came from the abolished Capuchin monastery in Jihlava . The locality Březí were assigned the villages Borovník , Březské , Níhov , Ondrušky and Rozseč . In the 1790s there were 32 houses in Březí. Until the middle of the 19th century, Březí was always subject to the Osová rule.

After the abolition of patrimonial Březí formed from 1850 with the districts Ondrušky, Rozseč and Borovník a community in the district administration of Groß Meseritsch . On June 13, 1869, the Brno Bishop Anton Ernst von Schaffgotsch raised the Březí locality to a parish. At the end of the 19th century, Borovník and Rozseč broke up and formed their own municipality. The town had its highest population in 1926 when 363 people lived in Březí and 69 people in Ondrušky. In 1948 Březí was assigned to the Okres Velká Bíteš. After its abolition, the community came to Okres Žďár nad Sázavou at the beginning of 1961 . At that time the community had 253 inhabitants.
