history

The place on the Libitzer Steig was probably settled in the 13th century during the colonization of the Bohemian-Moravian border area. Legend has it that the place was created by a charcoal burner named Skrl , after whom it was named Skrlovice . It is likely that the village was founded after 1293 by the Cistercian monastery Saar , after Wenceslaus II had granted the monastery the area. The village was first mentioned in 1426 when Jan Woyna gave his wife the name of the Muensperch fortress with the associated villages Radostín and Škrdlová Lhota . In 1493 the monastery bought back Vojnův Městec with all the villages and large forest areas. During the Thirty Years War , the Swedes invaded 1642–1647 and looted the monastery. At the same time, they burned down the surrounding towns, whose inhabitants had fled to the mountains. During the War of the Austrian Succession , Škrdlovice was hit by Austrian, Polish, Saxon, Prussian and French troops between 1741 and 1742.

In 1840 Skrdlowitz or Skrlowice consisted of 109 houses in which 814 Czech-speaking people lived. The school was under stately patronage. There was also an inn and a disused glassworks in the village. Aside, in the forest at the foot of the Tisůvka, was a single-layer hunter's house. The parish was Wognomiestetz . Until the middle of the 19th century, Skrdlowitz remained subject to the allodial estate Wognomiestetz.

After the replacement of patrimonial Škrdlovice formed with the district Liebinsdorf from 1850 onwards a political municipality in the judicial district of Přibyslau . From 1868 the village belonged to the Polna district . In 1873 Liebinsdorf became independent. In 1884 the municipality was assigned to the Chotěboř district . In 1886 the volunteer fire brigade was founded . In 1939 Emanuel Beránek set up a glass factory in which glasses were refined with potassium etching. In 1948 the company was expropriated. Since 1949 Škrdlovice belongs to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . In 1992 the Beránek family got the glass manufacture back in restitution. There used to be a popular motorcycle racing track near Škrdlovice.
