history

The village was probably founded after 1317 by the Lords of Meziříčí . Baleyn was first mentioned in a document in 1353, when Jan von Meziříčí's sons bequeathed the village to the Cistercian monastery of Saar , together with Sazomín and Babín . In 1519 a border description was laid out between the city of Saar and the village of Vatín. Under Maximilian von Dietrichstein , the residents were granted the right of reversion in 1638, but this did not take effect until 1670. The land register from 1653 lists 13 properties, two small businesses and two chalets. In 1717, apparently after disputes, a new description of the border with the city of Saar was created.

After the abolition of patrimonial Vatín formed a municipality in the political district of Neustadtl from 1850 . It had 327 inhabitants and covered 844 acres of land. Seven farms were destroyed in a large fire in 1881. From 1914 onwards, the production of agricultural land by amelioration of wetlands began. Between 1927 and 1932, five fires broke out in Vatín, in which ten houses were destroyed. In 1929 and 1930 the trunk road between Ždírec nad Doubravou and Velká Bíteš was built . Since 1949 the community has belonged to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . In 1980 it was incorporated into Žďár nad Sázavou . The municipality of Vatín has existed again since 1990. Vatín has had a coat of arms and a banner since 2002.
