history

The first written mention of the village of Wylkov , which belongs to the Ossowa Castle , took place in 1349. The name of the place is derived from the wolf . During this time mining was carried out in the area and German miners settled.

After the abolition of patrimonial Vlkov formed a district of the municipality Osová Bítýška in the district administration Velké Meziříčí. In 1865 the last wolf was shot in the Radostin Forest near Vlkov. In 1874 Vlkov formed its own municipality. In 1949 the community came to Okres Velká Bíteš, and at the beginning of 1961 it was assigned to Okres Žďár nad Sázavou .

The original character of the street village has been preserved to this day. Together with Březské, Křoví, Níhov , Osová Bítýška, Velká Bíteš and Záblatí, Vlkov is a member of a communal forest cooperative that manages 680 hectares of forests. Since 2005 the community has had a coat of arms and a banner with a silver grate as a symbol of St. Laurentius and a linden leaf on a blue and white background showing.
