The first written mention of the village belonging to the rule Ossow took place in 1349. The place was created at the beginning of the 13th century in the course of German colonization and was originally called Pfaffendorf , later as Michov or Mnichov . In 1365 Henricus de Ossaw sold the village to Jan the Elder of Meziříčí. Other owners were Lacek I. von Krawarn and later a line of the Lords of Lomnitz. In the course of time the place name changed to Nihow biw Nihof . In 1537 Níhov was attached to the Náměšť rule . In the second half of the 16th century there was probably a nobility seat in Níhov for a time, in 1570 a Níhov family is documented. At the beginning of the 17th century Níhov consisted of 12 houses and had 76 inhabitants. In 1794 141 people lived in the 16 houses of the village. The village was parish to Březí , where there was also a school. The inhabitants of the village lived mostly from agriculture, some also from handicrafts. From 1822, the mayor Josef Knoflíček tried to establish his own school in Níhov at the Křižanov dean's office . Between 1832 and 1833 a schoolhouse was finally built, which was built by the residents themselves. In 1837 the village had grown to 24 houses and had 191 residents.

After the abolition of patrimonial Nihov formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Velké Meziříčí . The new school building was inaugurated in 1876. In 1900, 291 people lived in Nihov's 37 houses. The place name Níhov has been in use since 1923 . In 1931 Níhov had 244 inhabitants and consisted of 46 houses. In 1939 the construction of the railway line from Tišnov to Havlíčkův Brod began east and south of the village . At the end of the Second World War, part of the crew of an American Consolidated B-24 aircraft that was shot down on April 17, 1945 near Hradčany and loaded with food containers and partisans found shelter in Níhov. In 1948 the municipality was assigned to the Okres Velká Bíteš. In 1953, rail traffic on the Brno – Žďár nad Sázavou line began. After the dissolution of Okres Velká Bíteš, the village came to Okres Žďár nad Sázavou at the beginning of 1961 . The residents built a cultural center themselves, which was inaugurated in 1976. 1980 Níhov was incorporated into Velká Bíteš . At the beginning of 1992 the Níhov parish was re-established.
