history
The first written mention of the place took place in 1269 when Černín von Popovice sold his property in Studyně to the Cistercian monastery "Vallis S. Mariae" in Oslavany. The brothers Zdislav and Arnošt von Lochwan drew as witnesses. The village was the seat of the Lords of Lochwan, who can be traced back to the end of the 15th century. The other owners included the brothers Pertold, Vilém and Čeněk von Leipa , who sold Lukovany to Jan Bula von Bořitov in 1542. A fortress with a courtyard was mentioned in Lukovany, the remains of which are to the east of the church. In 1544 Bohunka von Pernstein bought the Lukovany farm and hunting district and gave it to her dominion in Rossitz . Before the Thirty Years War the village consisted of 24 farms. The parish in Lukovany became extinct in the first half of the 17th century. In 1656 only 15 properties were still managed in Lukovany, the other nine were in desolation. The oldest local seal of Lvkowani dates back to 1749. The Lukovany church was a branch church of the Rossitz parish until 1768 and was then assigned to the new parish in Popovice . In 1790 235 people lived in the 39 houses of the village. Until the middle of the 19th century, Lukovany always remained subservient to Rossitz.
After the abolition of patrimonial Lukovany formed a district of the Popovice municipality in the Brno district from 1850. 1874 formed its own political municipality. The road to Zakřany was built in 1897. In 1900 the village had 678 inhabitants and consisted of 87 houses. The population consisted entirely of Catholic Czechs. In 1921 the municipality was assigned to the Okres Brno-venkov. Lukovany has belonged to Okres Rosice since 1948. After the Okres Rosice was abolished, Lukovany returned to Okres Brno-venkov in 1961. Since 2004 the community has had a coat of arms and a banner.
