history

The first documentary mention of Ugezdec can be found in a document from Bishop Heinrich Zdik , which was made around the turn of the year 1141/42 and contains a list of goods for the Diocese of Olomouc . A previously assumed first mention from 1131 was refuted in 1978. The parish church can be identified from 1320 and the vineyard from 1391. In 1388, Bishop Nikolaus von Riesenburg pledged Újezd to Jobst von Moravia , who connected the village to the Spielberg Chamber of Commerce . At that time the quality of the wine was such that Nikolaus von Riesenburg had it delivered from Újezd and Modřice . During the Hussite Wars , Újezd fell desolate and was repopulated from the middle of the 15th century.

Since the beginning of the 17th century there were two courtyards in Újezd, as well as the Flammen and Pruskauer Hof. In 1783 the Flammener Hof was parceled out and the village of Reichmannsdorf was created. In 1786 the Sternhof settlement was established on the Pruskauer Hof. In 1834 Újezd consisted of 50 houses and had 272 inhabitants. On September 15, 1909, Újezd was raised to a market town by Emperor Franz Joseph I. In 1950 Újezd, Rychmanov and Šternov merged. A year later the name of the place was changed from Újezd u Sokolnic to Újezd u Brna . In 1953, 2887 people lived in the place. Until 1960 Újezd belonged to the Okres Slavkov and since then to the Okres Brno-venkov. Since December 14, 2005, Újezd u Brna has been a city.
