Lomnice was probably formed in the first half of the 13th century during the colonization of the mountainous area by the Lords of Tasov ( Thassonis ). Lomnice was first mentioned in a document in 1281, when Tas von Lomnice, as a witness, confirmed the sale of the village of Újezd near Pohořelice by Artleb von Deblín to the Porta Coeli monastery . Lomnice Castle was the ancestral seat of the extensive noble family of Lomnica , which were among the most powerful in Moravia and which went out in the male line at the beginning of the 17th century with Protaš from Lomnica to Jamnitz and Meseritsch . In 1504 Lomnice was first called a town. In 1572 Oldřich von Lomnice sold the rule to Johann the Elder. Ä. from Zierotin to Rossitz . From 1644 until it was expropriated by the communist regime in 1948, Lomnice belonged to Count Serényi de Kis Sereny . Since the restitution in 2016 to Isabella Baroness Thienen-Adlerflycht , née Countess Serényi, the castle and the associated forestry and agricultural operations have now belonged to the descendants of the family again. After the Thirty Years' War, the Counts Serényi Lomnice had it redesigned according to plans by Giovanni Pietro Tencalla.

After the abolition of patrimonial Lomnice formed from 1850 a market town in the Brno district administration and judicial district Tischnowitz . In 1869 there were 2,143 people in Lomnice, in 1890 there were 2,063. Since 1896 the market town and Jewish community of Lomnice belonged to the newly formed district of Tischnowitz. In 1921 there were 1651 people living in the town and in 1950 there were 1465. After the dissolution of Okres Tišnov, Lomnice became part of Okres Blansko at the beginning of 1961 . In 1996 Brusná including the districts Řepka and Veselí was incorporated. On October 10, 2006 Lomnice received the status of a Městys back. Since the beginning of 2007 Lomnice belongs to the Okres Brno-venkov .

In the middle of the 19th century, the Jewish community was also an independent political community. Before 1880, however, it was united with the market town of Lomnice. However, this association had no permanent existence, as early as 1890 Lomnice consisted of two independent communities again. Around 1918 the market community and the Jewish community were finally united.

Community structure

The Městys consists of the districts Brusná ( Brusna ), Lomnice ( Lomnitz ), Řepka ( Repka ) and Veselí ( Wesseli ) and the settlement Chrastová.
