Hvozdec (German Hoschtetz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 15 kilometers northwest of the city center of Brno on the outskirts and belongs to the Okres Brno-venkov .

geography

Hvozdec is located in Bobravská vrchovina between the Údolí Bílého potoka nature park along the Bílý potok brook and the Podkomorské lesy nature park on the right side of the Hlinka brook. To the east lies the Brno Dam in the Svratka Valley and to the northeast the Veveří Castle . To the south is the Brno Automotodrom . To the east rises the Vrtačka (405 m), in the southeast of the Lipový vrch (478 m) and in the northwest the Ostrá (430 m).

Neighboring towns are Holasice , Veverská Bítýška and Chudčice in the north, Novy Dvur and Rozdrojovice in the Northeast, Kníničky the east, Bystrc and Žebětín to the southeast, Ostrovačice and Říčany in the south, Veverské Knínice the southwest, Domašov and Javůrek the west and Maršov and Lažánky in northwest .

history

The first written mention of the village came in 1317, when the widow of the Fas of Lomnice, Catherine, the farm and the village of Hvozdec the Dominican convent of St. Anna in Old Brno gave. In 1772 an epidemic of putrefactive fever broke out in which around 40 people died in Hvozdec and at Veveří Castle . In the course of the Josephine reforms, the Virgin Convent of St. Anna lifted. The Hvozdec Manor fell to the Religious Fund, which placed it under the administration of the Blažovice Manor . In 1784, Emperor Joseph II approved a transfer agreement for the robot service and the parceling of parts of the Hvozdec estate. In 1802 Wilhelm von Mundy bought the Hvozdec estate and initially attached it to his rule in Tischnowitz . Two years later, Mundy, who had meanwhile also bought the Eichhorn estate , released Hvozdec von Tischnowitz and added it to the nearby Eichhorn. In 1800 the village had 159 inhabitants.

After the abolition of patrimonial Hozdec formed a community in the Brno district from 1850. In the same year 15 residents died of cholera . The place name Hvozdec has been used since the end of the 19th century . In 1894 a school house was built. In 1902 the village was connected to the eastern district road from Ostrovačice to Veverská Bítýška via a connecting road . In 1905 the village came to the district of Tischnowitz. In 1909 the volunteer fire brigade was founded. At the 1921 census, 330 people lived in Hvozdec. The direct road connection to Veverská Bítýška was established in 1928. Between 1948 and 1960 the village belonged to the Okres Brno-okolí, then to the Okres Brno-venkov. The school closed in 1965. In 1974 the fire department disbanded. In 1980 it was incorporated into Veverská Bítýška. Hvozdec has been independent again since 1990.
