The Automotodrom Brno (also Masaryk-Ring , Czech Masarykův okruh ) is a motorsport racetrack on the western outskirts of Brno , Czech Republic . The line was rebuilt between 1985 and 1987 in the Podkomorské lesy forest area between Ostrovačice and Žebětín . Automotodrom Brno AG has been the operator of the route since 1994 .

The original route of the Masaryk Ring was first driven in 1930 and used until 1986. It consisted of public roads cordoned off for the races and initially had a length of over 29 kilometers. Over the years it was shortened to just under eleven kilometers in the end due to the increasingly strict safety regulations. In the mid-1980s, this course no longer met the safety requirements of the time, and it was decided to build a permanent race track from 1985.

The new Automotodrom used today, which is about ten kilometers from the pit facilities of the old ring, was opened in June 1987 and is located within the old street circuit. It has hosted the Czech Grand Prix since 1987 (until 1991 the Czechoslovak Grand Prix ). In addition, the Supersport and Superbike World Championship as well as the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) hold their Czech races annually at the Automodrom.
