The Circuito Permanente de Jerez is a 4,428 km long motorsport race track in Jerez de la Frontera in Spain . The course is driven clockwise, is eleven meters wide and has nine right and five left turns. The longest straight is 600 meters.
The track was built in 1985 to the Formula 1 - Grand Prix of Spain which a year later was discharged on the track to accommodate. Due to the remote location in southern Spain, the number of spectators remained below expectations and the Grand Prix was relocated to Barcelona from 1990 .
In 1994 the track was rebuilt and safety increased, so the European Grand Prix was held in 1994 and 1997 .
The Spanish Grand Prix is currently held annually at the Circuito de Jerez as part of the motorcycle world championship .
Due to the mild climate, the track is also popular as a test track in winter with Formula 1 and motorcycle teams.
