The 2018 Superbike World Championship season was the 31st in the history of the FIM - Superbike World Championship . 25 races were held at 13 events.

Distribution of points

The world champion will be the driver or manufacturer who has accumulated the most points in the world championship by the end of the season. When distributing points, the placements are taken into account in the overall result of the respective race. The top fifteen drivers in each race receive points according to the following scheme:

General

  • For the 2018 season, the race in Germany at the Lausitzring was no longer there.
  • The Czech racing circuit Automotodrom Brno returned to the racing calendar. It was last driven here in 2012 .
  • The newly built Autódromo de El Villicum in Argentina was the venue for the penultimate race of the season.
  • Due to heavy rainfall, the second race in Qatar could not be held.
  • Rule changes
    • A concession system for the performance equalization of the motorcycles, as is common in the MotoGP class of the motorcycle world championship , was introduced.
    • To ensure the equality of the motorcycles, the individual motors could be regulated by a speed limit.
