The 2016 Superbike World Championship season was the 29th in the history of the FIM - Superbike World Championship . 26 races were held at 13 events.

Distribution of points

The world champion will be the driver or manufacturer who has accumulated the most points in the world championship by the end of the season. When distributing points, the placements are taken into account in the overall result of the respective race. The top fifteen drivers in each race receive points according to the following scheme:

General

  • The event in Germany at the Lausitzring is new to the racing calendar for the 2016 season . An event was also planned for the end of July in Monza , Italy . Since the necessary reconstruction of the racetrack had not been completed, a replacement was sought. Since there was no agreement, this run was completely canceled.
  • The races in Portugal ( Portimão ) are no longer there .
  • The second race in Aragón was the 700th race in the history of the Superbike World Championship.
