Distribution of points

The world champion will be the driver or manufacturer who has accumulated the most points in the world championship by the end of the season. When distributing points, the placements are taken into account in the overall result of the respective race. The top fifteen drivers in each race receive points according to the following scheme:

Distribution of points
space 1 2 3 4th 5 6th 7th 8th 9 10 11 12 13 14th 15th
Points 25th 20th 16 13 11 10 9 8th 7th 6th 5 4th 3 2 1

All the results achieved were included in the evaluation.

useful information

  • All pilots competed on Pirelli uniform tires.
  • The innovations in the racing calendar were the run in Kyalami , South Africa , which was part of the program for the first time since 2002, and the relocation of the second Italian event from Vallelunga to Imola , where the World Cup last took place in 2005.
  • With BMW and Aprilia , two new manufacturers entered the market. For the first time in their history, the Munich team started the series with a works team, the Italians returned after six years of abstinence.
