Fonsi Nieto
Alfonso "Fonsi" González Nieto (born December 2, 1978 in Madrid , Spain ) is a former Spanish motorcycle racer .
Fonsi Nieto is the nephew of 13-time motorcycle world champion Ángel Nieto and the older cousin of Pablo Nieto .
Career
Nieto won the Spanish championship in the 125 cm³ class in 1995, 1996 and 1998 as well as in the 250 cm³ class in 1999 and 2000. Since 1999 he has participated in the motorcycle world championship and in 2002 came second in the overall ranking of the 250 -cm³ class. For the 2005 season, Nieto moved to the Superbike World Championship . In 2007 he completed his first race in the MotoGP class at the French Grand Prix , replacing the injured Olivier Jacque on the Kawasaki factory team .
In the 2010 season, Fonsi Nieto drove for the G22 Holyday Gym team on Moriwaki in the newly created Moto2 class of the motorcycle world championship.
In February 2011, Nieto announced his resignation. In his 115 starts in the motorcycle world championship , Fonsi Nieto achieved five wins, 18 podium places, twelve pole positions and seven fastest laps . In the Superbike World Championship , he achieved a victory, five podium places, one pole position and a fastest race lap in 112 starts.
