useful information
- The 250 cm³ class, which has existed since 1949 , was replaced in 2010 by the Moto2 class, which uses 600 cm³ standard engines from Honda .
- The Japanese Grand Prix was originally scheduled for April 25, but was postponed to October 3 a few days earlier due to the closure of much of European airspace after the eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland .
- The Grand Prix of Great Britain was held for the first time since 1986 on the Silverstone Circuit , which replaced Donington Park . The Hungarian Grand Prix , which was last part of the motorcycle world championship in 1992 and was to take place on the Balatonring , was originally supposed to be on the racing calendar . In March 2010, as in the previous year, the Grand Prix was canceled. It will be replaced by the Aragon Grand Prix , which will take place in Motorland Aragón in Spain .
- At the Grand Prix of Qatar Loris Capirossi drove his 300th race in the motorcycle world championship .
